β-L-fucosidase is an exo-glycosidase that hydrolytically cleaves β-L-fucose residues from the non-reducing ends of glycoconjugates.
In plant physiology, it participates in the metabolism of xyloglucan, affecting cell wall loosening and fruit softening. In microbiology, β-L-fucosidase is involved in bacterial degradation of host glycans and is one of the important components of the glycosidase system. Differing in substrate specificity and physiological function from the common clinical serum marker for liver cancer, α-L-fucosidase (AFU), β-L-fucosidase is a key tool enzyme for studying glycosylation modification, host-microbe interactions, and plant physiology.

Depending on the form of the signal label, the reaction result can manifest as color precipitation, colorimetric change, or fluorescence enhancement. As the reaction progresses, the signal intensity correlates with the enzyme activity level, enabling visual interpretation and quantitative analysis of β-L-fucosidase activity.
β-L-fucosidase substrates with different signal labels can transform the same enzyme reaction into colorimetric, chromogenic, or fluorescent readouts, meeting multi-level needs from qualitative judgment to quantitative analysis and high-sensitivity detection.
